Initially Dr. K. Zaman BNSB Eye Hospital devoted mainly towards creating services for the needless blind people, particularly in the rural remote areas of greater Mymensingh district which consist of Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Kishorganj, Netrokona and Sherpur where eye care facilities were virtually non-existent. Please note that 14% people of the total population live in this region. This region is the most poverty-stricken area of the country. Besides expanding its services, the organisation focused on setup an Eye Hospital in Mymensingh in 1982 which enabled the ever expanding delivery of eye care services to the 15.5 million people of the region. In its preset decade efforts are underway to improve capacity building, attain sustainability and delivery of quality services.
