Education:
After completing his primary education in Pabna, passed matriculation from Pabna Zilla School. He studied medicine from Liton Medical School, Mymensingh. He later graduated from Vienna, Austria with a degree in ophthalmology.
Professional Carrier:
He started his career as an ophthalmologist and surgeon at Islamia Eye Hospital, Dhaka. From the seventies he started private practice as an ophthalmologist in Mymensingh and devoted himself to social work. Inspired by the eminent ophthalmologist Dr. T. Ahammed, he devoted himself to the task of eradicating needless blindness from the society and started Rural Eye camps at the remote areas of greater Mymensingh Districts.
Contribution of Dr. K. Zaman:
Zone Leader for greater Mymensingh District of Bangladesh National Council for the Blind ( BNCB ), Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh for the eye camp services.
Founder Hony. General Secretary of Bangladesh National Society for the Blind (BNSB) Mymensingh. Established Mymensingh BNSB Eye Hospital in 1982, founder chairman of MBICO a sister concern of Mymensingh BNSB Eye Hospital.
In the seventies, he established an orphanage for the deprived and destitute orphan girls in Mymensingh.
Founder of Netrakona Under-05 Clinic and eye hospital. Award & recognition received by Dr. K. Zaman:
In recognition of outstanding services in the field of blindness prevention and rehabilitation received the Armitage Award, Emran the Gold Medal, Lifetime Achievement Award from the Ophthalmological Society of Bangladesh (OSB) Distinguished Service Award from the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO), South-East Asia regional award of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) respectively in 1984 1986, 1995, 2004 and 2012.
Received the National Social Services award of Ministry of Social Services, Govt. of Bangladesh from the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Peoples Republic of Bangladesh for the outstanding contribution in community social service in 1999.
Awarded as “Sada Moner Manush” (White Hearted Man) by the Uniliver Bangladesh in 2008.

Family :
Born in aristocrat family on 2 April 1930 in Pabna. Lost his mother at the age of 21 days of birth. Father- Justice Badiuzzaman Ahmed (Late), Mother- Hamida Banu (Late), Wife- Serina Banu (Late), two daughters, two sons. He was the third of nine brothers and sisters (five brothers – four sisters).
Death:
Dr. K. Zaman passed away on June 29, 2013 at 5.15 am at his residence 7 Maharaja road, Mymensingh.
